Within the scope of the university-industry cooperation, within the framework of the studies we carried out with BAKOMER (Balıkesir University Composite Research Training and Simulation Application and Research Center) 3-axis fiber optic sensor application was carried out on the mechanical tests of composite materials with different filling geometries of FBG sensors.
Ermaksan Optoelectronics center, we have carried our knowledge and experience on laser photonics field to fiber sensor technologies, FBG (Fiber Bragg Grating) sensors specifically. The biggest motivation for having a deep interest in FBG sensors was that; they are applicable to a wide range of industries from aerospace and defense to composite material manufacturing. Having a lightweight, extremely narrow thickness, durability structure to measure various parameters such as strain, vibration, temperature, acceleration easily. FBG sensors can be embedded into composite materials and allow smart material production with high resolution by simply embedding the sensors within the layers of the composite material or sticking on the surface.
In this project, 3-axis fiber optic sensors were applied to filling materials with 3 different geometries, into a metal-reinforced composite material produced in small sizes (in sizes that conventional sensors cannot apply), and for a special research subject.
Supporting academicians, universities and students is the primary aim of our corporate social responsibility works. Within the scope of social responsibility and publicity activities, Ermaksan has continuously supported education.
